The Praxis Lab

The PRAXIS Lab is currently in the design phase of a research project which will explore the experiences of Trans* students in STEM academic programs in the South Eastern US. In this multi-pronged investigation, we are working closely with community partners.

 

Our priorities are:

• Develop a systemic literature review of Trans* and Queer students and professionals in STEM

• Conduct an analysis of university policies on healthcare and inclusion for Trans* students

• Conduct a photovoice design method with students at STEM universities

• Explore sites of resistance to exclusionary discourses

• Understand the discourses which both hinder and support Trans* students, through interview and situational analysis methods

• Develop recommendations for schools to better support all students

• Get students involved in making change in our communities
